OVERVIEW OF THE CONFERENCE:

Harnessing Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) towards Expanding Economic Frontiers: Opportunities, Challenges, and emerging solutions

Aim

In September 2015, all Member States of the United Nations agreed on a blueprint, towards making the world a better place for everyone. The blueprint proposed that by year 2030, the seventeen objectives of the Sustainable Developmental Goals will be achieved. However, the SG-SDG-Progress Report of year 2024, shows that overall progress assessment across targets with trend data, 2024 or the latest data of SDGs was 17 % on track, 18% moderate progress, 30% marginal progress, 18% stagnation and 17% regression. These indices have prompted the objective of this conference; to adopt a multidisciplinary approach, across the globe to germinate workable plans towards achieving the expected target performance of the SDGs, while seeking ways for propelling economic frontiers of participating entities. This second international conference, of the Faculty of Management Sciences, University of Maiduguri, will be hosted physically and virtually at the, University of Maiduguri, Maiduguri, Borno State. It seeks to bring together academicians and practitioners from different disciplines, in the ambiance of the University Community. Both national and international speakers will be available to share their wealth of knowledge, as well as networking opportunities. We look forward to receiving you.

Conference tracks:

Within the purview of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which are relatively intertwined with the Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Framework, the main theme of this conference, “Harnessing Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) towards Expanding Economic Frontiers: Opportunities, Challenges, and emerging solutions” is broken into tracks that border on the intersect of SDGs and ESG framework along the line of some departments, within the faculty of management sciences and other faculties of the University of Maiduguri. This will allow researchers to dwell on current positions, challenges, and workable solutions of dimensions of SDGs and ESG Framework, within their respective discipline. Submissions are also welcome on different views, research settings, country contexts, methodologies, and conceptual as well as empirical works on SDGs. Authors are encouraged to make submissions on different aspects of the SDGs.
